Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Around the Bandstand is an investigation into the history and significance of Barrow Park and it's Bandstand to the social and cultural life of the town.

The website incudes oral history interviews from parkusers, musicians, councillors and people who grew up within the Park walls. There's also a new 40 minute video piece comprising archive footage and new images, an ephemera gallery, photographs and postcards and a recording of a Brass concert .

 

The project included live performances from traditional musicians, visits from nursery childtren, interviews and research at Barrow Local Studies library.  

 

Screenings have taken place in the Cookes Studios, the Station View House Extended Care Home and at the Robin Hood Public House, Barrow in Furness.

 

A special audio piece was broadcast on cando fm on Feb 16 2019.
